What is Aadhaar Card?
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to residents of India. It is the world’s largest biometric ID system.
Key Features

Biometric-based: Contains your fingerprints, iris scan, and photograph.

Demographic data: Includes name, date of birth, gender, address, and Aadhaar number.

Unique: No two people can have the same Aadhaar, even if they are twins.
Purpose & Use

Acts as a proof of identity and address across India.

Required for government schemes like subsidies, pensions, LPG, etc.

Used for opening bank accounts, mobile connections, income tax filing, etc.

Linked with PAN card, bank accounts, and more for transparency and fraud prevention.
Important to Know

Aadhaar is voluntary but widely used.

It does not confer citizenship.
-
It is secure and confidential, protected under Aadhaar Act, 2016.
Eligibility Criteria
As per UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), Aadhaar is only issued to residents of India, not to NRIs or foreign nationals unless:

They have resided in India for a total of 182 days or more in the past 12 months.

They have a valid Indian address and identity documents.

They are either:

Indian citizens,
-
Overseas Citizens of India (OCI),
-
Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) holding long-term visa, and meet the 182-day condition.
Checklist: Documents Required

Application Process
Step 1: Ensure Eligibility

Must have stayed 182 days in India (in the last 12 months).

Must have valid address proof within India.
Step 2: Book Appointment (Our service will include this)

​Choose an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre (Government or Authorized agency).
Step 3: Visit Enrolment Centre

Carry all original documents (they will be scanned).

Biometric capture: Photo, fingerprints, and iris scan.
Step 4: Aadhaar Issuance

You will receive an Aadhaar Enrollment Slip immediately.

Aadhaar card will be sent to your US address in 2–4 weeks.

e-Aadhaar can be downloaded online after issuance.
